South Indian Filter
South Indian Filter Coffee, or simply Filter Coffee down south, is best enjoyed steaming hot and ideally, with little to no sugar.
Strong, smooth and rich, it boasts of strict quality standards, tradition and sentiment. It made headway into Tamil society in the early 1900s, according to scholars, although the origins of brewing equipment and the tableware - the iconic Dabara set, are not so clear.
Traditional brewing equipment is made of brass, as it is said to enhance the taste of brewed coffee, although steel brewing equipment and Dabara sets are widely prevalent.
